# Verification and Connected Accounts (https://terac.com/docs/experts/how-to/attestations)

How to verify your phone and identity, and connect the accounts some opportunities ask for.

Terac verifies who you are in two ways: your phone number, during onboarding, and your identity, before your first cash out. Your connected accounts, such as LinkedIn, help show your professional background, and some opportunities require a particular one.

You manage all of this from **Profile → Identity & Security** at [terac.com/me/settings/identity](https://terac.com/me/settings/identity).

## Phone [#phone]

Your phone number is verified during onboarding, by sending us a pre-filled text or by entering a 6-digit code. See [Setup Your Profile](https://terac.com/docs/experts/how-to/setup-profile#step-1-verify-your-phone-number).

To add a number, go to **Phone Numbers** under Identity & Security and click **+**. Once it is verified, click **Set as primary** to make it the number we use.

## Identity Verification [#identity-verification]

You need to verify your identity before you can cash out, and opportunity pages list it as a required step. It only has to be done once, and it counts for every opportunity.

To verify:

1. Go to **Profile → Identity & Security**.
2. Under **Identity Verification**, click **Start Verification**.
3. Follow the steps in the secure form. You will need a valid government-issued photo ID, and it takes a few minutes.

The check is run by Whop, our payout and verification partner, so you may see their name in the form. The same check clears you to cash out: if the Earnings page asks you to **Verify identity** first, it is the same form.

| **Verification failed** | Click **Try Again**, with a clearer photo or a different document |

## Connected Accounts [#connected-accounts]

Under **Linked Accounts** you see every account you sign in with, grouped by email address. The email marked **Primary** is the one we send email to. To make a different linked email the primary one, click **Set as primary** next to it.

To add another way to sign in, click **Link Another Account**. Use a provider account with the same email address as your Terac account, so it is added to the account you already have.

### Connect your profiles [#connect-your-profiles]

An opportunity's application checklist includes **Connect your profiles**. A linked LinkedIn or Facebook account completes it. It is optional, but connecting LinkedIn helps show your professional background and can get you put forward for more work.

Some opportunities require a specific account, such as LinkedIn, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, or GitHub. If so, the application starts with a **Connect Accounts** step.

## Two-Factor Authentication [#two-factor-authentication]

For extra security, turn on **Two-Factor Authentication** under Identity & Security. You will then enter a code from an authenticator app when you sign in. It is also worth turning on two-factor authentication with the provider you sign in with, such as LinkedIn or Google.

## FAQ [#faq]

### Do I have to verify again for each opportunity? [#do-i-have-to-verify-again-for-each-opportunity]

No. Your phone and identity verification count for every opportunity.

### Is identity verification required to apply? [#is-identity-verification-required-to-apply]

Opportunity pages mark it as required, and you cannot cash out without it. To start an application, you need a verified phone number. Verifying your identity early means nothing holds up your first payout.

### What if my ID verification fails? [#what-if-my-id-verification-fails]

Common reasons are a blurry or cut-off photo, an expired ID, a selfie (if you are asked for one) that does not clearly match the photo on the ID, or a type of document that is not accepted. Click **Try Again** with a clearer photo or a different document. If it keeps failing, [ask Sophia](https://terac.com/docs/experts/support/contact).

### Does verification expire? [#does-verification-expire]

It can. If yours has expired, the Earnings page asks you to **Re-verify identity** before your next cash out.

### It says my identity is already associated with another account [#it-says-my-identity-is-already-associated-with-another-account]

Each identity document can only be used on one Terac account. [Ask Sophia](https://terac.com/docs/experts/support/contact) and our team will look into it.
