# Insights (https://terac.com/docs/researchers/results/insights)

Generate AI-powered insights from interview data, including themes, key quotes, and evidence-backed analysis.

Insights turn your raw interview data into structured findings. Terac's AI analyzes completed interviews to surface themes, patterns, and notable quotes.

## How Insights Work [#how-insights-work]

After interviews are completed, the AI analyzes transcripts across all participants to identify:

* **Themes** - recurring patterns or topics that appear across multiple interviews
* **Key quotes** - notable participant statements that support or illustrate a theme
* **Evidence** - direct links from insights back to the specific interview moments

## Generating Insights [#generating-insights]

1. **Navigate to your guide**

   Open the research guide linked to your opportunity and go to the **Insights** tab.

2. **Generate insights**

   Click **Generate Insights** to start the AI analysis. The AI reviews all completed interview transcripts and produces a set of themes with supporting evidence.

3. **Review and refine**

   Review the generated insights. You can:

   * Edit theme names and descriptions
   * Add or remove evidence links
   * Create new insights manually
   * Delete insights that are not relevant

## Insight Types [#insight-types]

The AI suggests an insight type for each finding. Common types include:

| Type            | Description                                         |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------- |
| **Pain Point** | A problem or frustration participants experience |
| **Behavior** | A pattern in how participants act or make decisions |
| **Need** | Something participants want or require |
| **Opportunity** | A potential area for improvement or innovation |
| **Preference** | A stated preference for how something should work |

## Evidence Linking [#evidence-linking]

Each insight is backed by evidence from specific interview moments. Evidence includes:

* The participant who said it
* A timestamp link to the exact moment in the recording
* The relevant transcript excerpt

This lets you trace any finding back to its source for validation.

## Manual Insights [#manual-insights]

You can also create insights manually:

1. Watch an interview and identify a notable moment
2. Create an insight and describe the finding
3. Link the interview moment as evidence
4. Tag it with an insight type

This is useful for observations that the AI might not surface automatically.

## Insights with Stats [#insights-with-stats]

The insights view shows aggregate statistics:

* How many interviews support each theme
* Which themes are most common
* Distribution of insight types

Use these stats to prioritize findings by prevalence and impact.
