We've completely rebuilt the technical infrastructure that powers interviews. The result is a dramatically better experience for both researchers and participants, with real-time capabilities that make remote research feel immediate and engaging.
Live transcripts
As participants speak, their words appear as text in real-time. No more waiting for post-interview transcription—you can read along as the conversation happens.
This is particularly valuable for:
- Taking notes in context without missing what's being said
- Jumping into a live interview mid-session and understanding what's been discussed
- Identifying key moments as they happen, not hours later
The transcripts are timestamped and synchronized with the video recording, so you can click any line to jump to that moment in playback.
Video and audio streaming
Interviews now support full video and audio streaming. Participants can turn on their camera for a face-to-face feel, which often leads to more engaged and expressive responses.
The video stream uses adaptive bitrate technology to maintain quality across varying network conditions. Even participants with inconsistent internet connections get a smooth experience.
Screen sharing
When you need to see what participants are doing—testing a product, navigating a website, or demonstrating a workflow—screen sharing makes it possible. Participants can share their entire screen or a specific application window.
The AI interviewer can see and reference what's on screen, asking contextual questions like "I notice you hesitated there—what were you thinking?" This makes usability testing and product research significantly more effective.
End-to-end encryption
Research data is sensitive. Participants share personal experiences, opinions, and behaviors that deserve protection.
We've implemented end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for all interview sessions. This means:
- Video, audio, and screen shares are encrypted before leaving the participant's device
- Encryption keys are never accessible to Terac servers
- Only authorized researchers can access the decrypted content
Each interview room has its own secure encryption key stored alongside your study data.
Timestamp-linked chat
Every moment in an interview is now linked to a specific timestamp. When reviewing an interview, you can:
- Click any point in the timeline to jump to that moment
- See chat messages and events synchronized with the video
- Add notes that are anchored to specific timestamps
This makes analysis faster and more precise. No more scrubbing through hours of video to find the moment you vaguely remember.
