Step 1 of 4

Basic Information

Provide your name, phone number, and location so we can match you with the right opportunities.

Instructions
  1. 1Enter your full legal name exactly as it appears on your government-issued ID.
  2. 2Select your country code and enter your phone number. You will verify this in the next step.
  3. 3Choose your country, state/province, and city from the dropdowns.
Tips
  • Use your legal name — it must match your ID for verification later.
  • Double-check your phone number before continuing, as you will need to verify it with a code.
Frequently asked questions

We use your phone number to verify your identity and to contact you about research opportunities. It will not be shared with third parties.

Yes, you can update your name and location from your profile settings after completing onboarding.

If your city is not listed, you can type it manually into the city field. Make sure you have selected the correct country and state first.

Step 2 of 4

Phone Verification

Confirm your phone number by entering the 6-digit code we send you via SMS.

Instructions
  1. 1A 6-digit verification code will be automatically sent to the phone number you entered.
  2. 2Check your text messages (SMS) for the code from Terac.
  3. 3Enter the 6-digit code in the input boxes. It will auto-submit when complete.
Tips
  • The code expires after a few minutes. If it does, use the "Resend code" button.
  • Make sure your phone can receive SMS messages. Some VoIP numbers may not work.
Frequently asked questions

Wait at least 60 seconds for the code to arrive. If it does not come, click "Resend code." Make sure your phone number is correct and can receive SMS. If the problem persists, try a different phone number or contact support@terac.com.

Yes. Click the "Back" button to return to the Basic Information step and update your phone number.

For security, we limit the number of verification attempts. Please wait a few minutes and try again.

Step 3 of 4

Connect Profiles

Link your LinkedIn account and optionally add other professional profiles. LinkedIn is required.

Instructions
  1. 1Click the "Connect" button next to LinkedIn. A popup window will open for you to log in to LinkedIn and authorize the connection.
  2. 2Once connected, you will see a green checkmark next to LinkedIn.
  3. 3Optionally, connect your Facebook account using the same process.
  4. 4Add any other links (portfolio, GitHub, personal website) using the "Other Links" section at the bottom.
Tips
  • If the popup does not open, check that your browser is not blocking popups.
  • If you see a "Link not working?" text, click it to open the connection in a new tab instead.
Frequently asked questions

Allow popups for terac.com in your browser settings, then try again. Alternatively, click the "Link not working?" text that appears after a few seconds to open the connection in a new tab.

Step 4 of 4

ID Verification

Verify your identity using Stripe Identity. This is a quick, secure process that takes about 60 seconds.

Instructions

  2. 2Take a photo of your government-issued ID (passport, driver's license, or national ID card).
  3. 3Take a quick selfie so Stripe can match your face to your ID.
  4. 4Wait for verification to complete. This usually takes less than a minute.
  5. 5Once verified, you will see a green "Verification complete" badge.
Tips
  • Make sure your ID is well-lit and the text is readable in the photo.
  • Use a recent, valid government-issued ID.
  • Your ID photos are processed by Stripe and are not stored by Terac.
Frequently asked questions

Stripe Identity is a secure identity verification service used by thousands of companies worldwide. They process your ID verification independently — Terac does not see or store your ID photos.

Stripe accepts government-issued photo IDs including passports, driver's licenses, and national ID cards. The document must be valid (not expired).

Yes. Stripe processes your verification data under their own privacy policy. Terac only receives a verification status (verified or not verified) — we do not see your ID photos or personal document details.

Common reasons for failure include blurry photos, expired IDs, or mismatched selfies. Click "Try Again" and make sure your ID is well-lit and clearly visible. If problems persist, contact support@terac.com.

If your browser blocks the popup, a link will appear on the page to open the verification manually. Click it to open Stripe in a new tab.
