What We're Researching

We're running a paid study on identifying deceptive communication patterns in user messages. Our goal is to improve how automated systems flag risks, detect scams, and generate clear warnings for users. Your labeling work feeds directly into strengthening these communication safeguards.

How It Works

You will participate in a remote, asynchronous text analysis task. During the session, you will review eight fully redacted messages sent by other users. For each message, you will assess the content to label the risk level, identify any specific scam types, and point out red flags. Finally, you will recommend a specific action and write a plain-English warning explaining the threat.

Who This Is For

We are looking for observant individuals who can critically evaluate written communication for suspicious behavior. We welcome content moderators, data annotators, trust and safety specialists, and anyone with strong reading comprehension skills. If you are comfortable analyzing brief text snippets for malicious intent, this project is a great fit.

What You'll Do
  • Read and evaluate eight short, redacted text messages
  • Identify potential risks and categorize the specific type of scam present
  • Highlight red flags within the text that indicate suspicious activity
  • Recommend appropriate actions and draft a simple warning for the user
Who Should Apply
  • Strong reading comprehension and attention to detail
  • Ability to recognize manipulative language or common scam tactics
  • Comfortable working independently on text annotation tasks
  • Clear written communication skills for drafting warnings
Contract & Payment Terms
  • You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
  • This is a fully remote opportunity that can be completed on your own schedule.
  • Opportunities can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
  • Your participation will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
  • Payments are processed weekly based on services rendered.
  • We are unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates at this time.
