What We're Researching

We're running a paid study on backend system optimization, specifically focusing on cache reuse safety. Ensuring that redundant calls are handled correctly is critical for system performance without risking side effects or serving stale data. Your evaluations will help us refine the logic that determines when a cached response is truly safe to serve.

How It Works

You will work through a series of data rows comparing a candidate cached call with a new call. For each scenario, you will analyze runtime signals including Redis similarity scores, time-to-live settings, and state flags. Based on this information, you will assign a specific reuse label ranging from safe reuse to side-effect risk. Finally, you will provide a confidence score and a brief justification for your technical decision.

Who This Is For

We are looking for backend developers and systems engineers who have practical experience with Redis and caching strategies. We welcome Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Site Reliability Engineers, and Backend Architects. You should be highly comfortable reasoning about state-specific risks, time-to-live expirations, and side-effect flags in distributed systems.

What You'll Do
  • Review pairs of candidate cached calls and new calls to assess similarity
  • Analyze runtime signals, exact match criteria, and time-to-live configurations
  • Classify each scenario with a specific final label regarding reuse safety
  • Assign a confidence rating between 1 and 5 for each evaluation
  • Write a short, clear reason explaining the logic behind your chosen label
Who Should Apply
  • Professional experience as a backend engineer or systems architect
  • Familiarity with caching systems like Redis and data expiration logic
  • Strong understanding of state-specific risks and side effects in API calls
  • Comfortable performing detailed technical data evaluation tasks
Contract & Payment Terms
  • You will be engaged as an independent contractor.
  • This is a fully remote opportunity that can be completed on your own schedule.
  • Opportunities can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance.
  • Your participation will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
  • Payments are processed weekly based on services rendered.
  • We are unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates at this time.
