After creating your account, you'll go through our onboarding process to build your expert profile. A complete profile helps us match you with the right opportunities.

The Onboarding Process

Step 1: Overview

You'll see a checklist of what to expect during onboarding. This gives you an idea of the information we'll collect.

Step 2: Basic Info

Provide your essential information:

• Full name as it appears on official documents
• Phone number with country code (for verification in the next step)
• Interview language your preferred language for participating in studies

Step 3: Phone Verification

Verify your phone number to confirm your identity:

1. Enter the verification code sent via SMS
2. If you don't receive the SMS, you can request a phone call instead
3. Once verified, your phone becomes an attestation on your profile

Step 4: Connect Profiles

Link your professional profiles to strengthen your application:

• LinkedIn (recommended) helps verify your professional background
• Facebook optional but can help with verification
• Other links add your portfolio, GitHub, or other relevant profiles

Step 5: Government ID Verification

Verify your identity with a government-issued ID:

1. You'll be redirected to Stripe Identity (our secure verification partner)
2. Upload a photo of your passport, driver's license, or national ID
3. Take a selfie to confirm the ID belongs to you
4. Verification typically completes within minutes

This is the most important attestation and unlocks the majority of opportunities on Terac.

Step 6: Complete

Review your profile and finish onboarding. You're now ready to browse and apply to opportunities.

Additional Profile Settings

After onboarding, you can enhance your profile further from your account settings:

Resume Upload

Upload your resume to enrich your profile:

• Supported formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX
• Our AI extracts your experience, education, and skills
• You can edit any extracted information

Availability

Set your weekly schedule in profile settings:

• Select days and times you're typically available
• This helps researchers know when to schedule interviews

Tips for a Strong Profile

• Complete all steps to maximize your opportunities
• Be accurate your information is used to match you with studies
• Keep it updated update your profile when your situation changes
• Add LinkedIn this is one of the most valuable attestations

What Happens If You Skip Steps?

You can skip optional steps, but:

• Skipping phone verification prevents you from applying to most opportunities
• Skipping ID verification significantly limits available opportunities
• An incomplete profile may rank lower in researcher searches

You can always come back and complete skipped steps later from your profile settings.
