Rewards and Fair Pay

How study rewards are set, when you get paid, and the protections that make sure you are paid fairly.

Terac is built so you always know what a study pays before you start, and so approved work is paid promptly. This page explains how rewards work and the protections in place to keep things fair.

You See the Pay Before You Apply

Every opportunity shows its pay rate and what you will be doing in the detail panel before you apply. You never have to start a study to find out what it pays. Open any opportunity card on your opportunities page to see the reward, the work mode, and the full description.

You Are Paid for Approved Work

When your submission is approved, your earnings are added to your Terac balance right away. You can then cash out from your earnings page once you reach the minimum.

The minimum to cash out is $5. Earnings from multiple submissions accumulate toward it, so smaller studies add up.

The 7-Day Review Guarantee

After you submit, your work goes into review. Most reviews finish within a few hours to a few days. To make sure you are never left waiting indefinitely:

If a researcher has not reviewed your submission within 7 days, it is automatically approved and your earnings are released.

You do not have to do anything to trigger this. If a submission has been awaiting review for longer than 7 days and has not been approved, contact support with your submission ID.

Being Screened Out

Screening questions confirm you match what a study needs. If you are screened out, it means you did not match the criteria for that particular study, and that study is not paid. Being screened out is normal, it is not a judgment on you, and it does not affect your account. Keep applying to opportunities that fit your background. See completing screeners for tips.

Bonus Payments

Some studies include bonus payments on top of the base reward. Researchers use these for things like multi-part or longitudinal studies, follow-up sessions, or exceptional contributions. Bonuses show up in your transaction history labeled as bonuses.

If a study told you a bonus was coming and it has not arrived after the work was approved, contact support with the study name and your submission ID.

If You Think You Were Underpaid or a Payment Is Missing

Work through these steps:

  1. Check the submission status. Open your submissions and confirm the work was approved, not still pending or screened out.
  2. Check your balance and transaction history. Approved earnings and bonuses appear on your earnings page.
  3. Allow the review window. If the submission is still awaiting review, remember it is auto-approved at 7 days.
  4. Contact support. If the numbers still do not look right, reach out with your submission ID and a short description. We will look into it.

Taxes

Earnings from Terac may be taxable depending on your country and total income. You are responsible for reporting income according to your local tax laws. See the Payout Policy for more on tax reporting.
