Your Wellbeing and Sensitive Content

How Terac looks after participants, what to expect from sensitive study content, and where to find support.

Your wellbeing matters to us. Research covers a wide range of topics, and a small number of studies discuss subjects that some people find sensitive or distressing. This page explains what to expect and where to get help.

What Sensitive Content Means

Most studies are everyday surveys, interviews, and tasks. Occasionally, a study may involve:

  • Sensitive topics such as health, personal experiences, trauma, or other difficult subjects
  • Mature or graphic material such as strong language or content that some people find upsetting

What to Expect Before You Start

Before you apply, review the opportunity description and requirements in the detail panel. Studies that involve sensitive or potentially distressing content should disclose this upfront so you can make an informed choice. If something is unclear, you do not have to apply.

You Can Always Decline or Stop

Participation is your choice. If a study's content is not right for you:

  • You do not have to apply
  • If you have not started, you can simply move on to other opportunities
  • If you have started and are not comfortable continuing, you can return the submission

Returning a study you are not comfortable with does not harm your account standing. Returning forfeits the reward for that specific study, but it carries no penalty.

If a study contains content that is abusive, unethical, or that was not disclosed in the description, please contact support so we can review it.
